Award Guidelines
Entries must relate to a designed structure/landscape that is located within the South East of Melbourne. For the purpose of this competition, the South East means the ten municipalities of Bayside, Bass Coast, Cardinia, Casey, Greater Dandenong , Frankston, Glen Eira, Kingston, Mornington Peninsula and Port Phillip.
- Only projects completed between 2005 and 2008 are eligible for the 2009 Awards.
- A project may be nominated for multiple categories, and different parts of the one project may be entered separately.
- Images must be submitted on CD (photographs will not be accepted).
- Up to 10 electronic images may be included with each entry. These should include internal and external images. Projects should also be shown in context.
- Images must be in a high resolution format (preferably tif) as the winning entries may be printed in a scaled up size, displayed or electronically projected.
- Entries must stipulate the single preferred image to be exhibited, should the entry be a category winner. If no image is stipulated the judges will choose an image at their discretion.
- A short written general description of the project, along with a brief explanation of how the entry meets the following assessment criteria, must be included with the nomination (about 200 words total).
- Assessment criteria
a. Function and performance
b. Construction technique
c. Significance of the work in relation to its surroundings
d. Environmental sustainability
e. Innovation (in area of design, materials, process, etc.)
- A signed statement indicating the approval of the nomination by the owner, or developer, must accompany all entries.
Chairman's Award
The winner of each Award Category will be eligible for consideration for the Chairman's Premier Award. The Chairman's Premier Award is for the project that is judged to have made the most significant contribution to architectural design in the region.
